Brett Hurst is excited to announce his ownership of Farmers City Title Company, with offices located in Rock Port and Oregon.

A business with a long history in Atchison County is now under new ownership. Atchison County Prosecuting Attorney Brett Hurst of Tarkio, Missouri, purchased Raines Title Company on December 29, 2018, and has renamed the business Farmers City Title Company. Hurst purchased both the Rock Port and Oregon offices.

Brett will also continue his practice at The Law Office of Brett Hurst, JD, LCC, in Tarkio, which he opened in 2009. He is in his fifth year serving as the Atchison County Prosecuting Attorney.

“Business will run as usual and everyone can expect the same great service that the company has been providing for years,” Hurst explained.

Make that 134 years to be exact. The company began as John W. Raines Abstracting Company in 1885.

Hurst bought the company from Day Miller, who has owned Raines Title since 1997. Before that, the company was owned by Richard Halliday.

Employees Joni True and Martin Specking in Rock Port, along with Julie McCully at the Oregon office, will all remain with the company. Hurst will be available by appointment on Wednesday mornings in Rock Port and Tuesday mornings in Oregon.

Farmers City Title Company will provide the same services such as title insurance, real estate contracts and estate planning, with the addition of VA loans.
