The Tarkio Elementary School 4th, 5th, and 6th graders attended the Qualifying Round Math Contest at Northeast Nodaway High School in Ravenwood, Missouri. A total of 13 students competed in the competition with seven placing in the top five on at least one test in their grade level and Tarkio Elementary placed 3rd overall out of eight schools.
Teahen Hannah placed 5th on the Sprint Test. Velicity Hegstrom placed 3rd on the Target Test. Adrienne Phillips placed 2nd on the Number Sense Test and 1st on the Target Test. Jacob Stanton placed 1st on the Sprint Test. Rainy Nordhausen placed 5th on the Sprint Test. Lizzie Schlueter placed 5th on the Sprint Test and 4th on the Target Test. Alyson Wooten placed 5th on the Target Test. Tarkio Elementary School also had two students place in their grade level based on their overall score: Jacob Stanton placed 5th and Adrienne Phillips placed 2nd. Jacob Stanton, Adrienne Phillips, Rainy Nordhausen, Lizzie Schlueter, and Alyson Wooten advance to the Regional Math Contest on April 6th at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
