The Northwest Missouri Eagle Archery Team competed in a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) tournament in Platte City February 16, 2019. The tournament was well attended with 18 schools competing, represented by 297 archers. The Eagles finished second place in the High School Division with eight of their 24 archers finishing in the top 10 in their division. The team shot a Tier 3 state qualifying score of 3,102.
Top 10 archers were: Cole Gillenwater, Courteney Gordon, Blade Wright, and Britney Wright, Mound City; Aiden James, Maitland; Caleb Lucas and Ethan Lucas, Rock Port; and Cameron Sheldon, Fairfax. Aiden James finished first in the Elementary Boys’ Division qualifying him as a Tier 2 state archer scoring 267 of 300. Britney Wright finished second in the High School Girls’ Division qualifying as a Tier 3 state archer scoring 278 of 300.
