• The Tarkio Community Awards Banquet was held Monday night, March 7, in the elementary school gym.

• A grand opening at the Flower Mill, located at 509 Main Street in Tarkio, will be held on Friday, March 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with lots of door prizes, as well as pancakes and syrup, coffee and donuts.

March 6, 1969

• Thursday night, March 13, is Gala Night at Tarkio College when the delightful comedy, “You Can’t Take It With You,” opens at the Mule Barn Theatre. Alpha Lambda Sigma men’s organization is sponsoring the Gala and handling the dinner party at the Barn following the performance.

• Tarkio City Council met in regular session at the City Hall Monday night. The council voted to enter into a contract with Whited and Sons for the newly enacted trash removal and landfill ordinance. Each residence property owner will be charged $2 per month for regular twice weekly pickup of refuse which is placed in 30 gallon containers. Brush and tree limbs will be removed at a cost of $3 for half a truck load and $5 for a full load.

March 10, 1944

• The Tarkio College Artist Course will present J.E. Blackledge, magician, in the high school auditorium Wednesday, March 15 in “This Something Called Magic.” J. Elder Blackledge has studied magic and its historical development for 28 years. His travels in search of mystery have taken him into 20 counties.

• Ray Simpson purchased the post office building from Wilbur Benham of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, in a transaction completed yesterday. He also bought the residence property on Broad Street, known as the Dr. Benham home, where Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schoneman are residing. The Simpsons will take possession of the residence about April 1.
