Making plans, setting dates and looking ahead to 2019 were the highlights of the Holt County Missouri Historical Society board meeting on Thursday night, February 21, 2019, at the Garden Inn Truck Stop south of Mound City, Missouri.
Final plans were completed for the upcoming fundraiser, “Get Out Your Green,” a St. Patrick’s Day lunch set for Sunday, March 10, at the Nutrition Site, 613 State St., in Mound City.
Serving will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 1:30 p.m. The meal will feature a choice of a Reuben sandwich or corned beef, cabbage, and Irish potatoes, along with an opportunity to choose a favorite dessert from a large selection of homemade Irish delicacies! Take out orders will be available. Proceeds benefit the Society projects.
The annual Fortescue School Reunion will be hosted by the Society on Saturday, May 25, at the Methodist Church Museum in Fortescue, Missouri. A buffet meal will be served at 1:00 p.m. with the museum open for visiting throughout the afternoon. Those who attended Fortescue School or ever lived there are welcome to come renew friendships and share memories. This is a fundraiser for the Society.
Due to the winter weather the opening date for the Society’s Genealogy and Research Center, 612 State Street, in Mound City was not determined. For information or research queries call 660-442-5949 and leave a message, e-mail hchs1972@gmail.com, or visit the webpage https://www.holtcountymohistoricalsociety.com/.
