The Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary Unit #199 met Tuesday March 11, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. Linda Payton called the meeting to order. Sheridan Mires gave an opening prayer. Amie Riley led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble. Roll call was answered by seven members. Barb Hines read the minutes of the previous meeting and Sheridan gave the financial report.
Communication/invitation regarding the 75th birthday of Burlington Junction was read. There were no further communications. Barb gave the report on membership.
County Government Day will be March 19 at the Atchison County Courthouse in Rock Port, Missouri. We will get together at 2:00 p.m. on March 18 to prepare our share of the sandwiches, bag cookies and relishes to be at the courthouse by 8:00 a.m. on the 18th.
The District meeting was held on March 2, a very cold day, with 15 total members.
The new date for our Legion’s 100th Birthday Celebration will be May 4. There will be more details next month.
There will be two delegates attending Girls State from Tarkio and the forms have been sent.
The Spring Rummage Sale is set for April 26-27. Take in will start on Wednesday, April 10, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. No take-ins on Thursday, April 25. Doors will be closed except for workers to get things organized. There will be no early sales!
Sheridan asked that all members turn in their hours and money spent for projects from April 2018-April 2019. She needs to have her report ready by March 15.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting adjourned with a closing prayer from Sheridan. The next meeting will be April 8, 2019, at 5:30 p.m.
