The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, March 7, 2019. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were reviewed and approved.

Department monthly reports were reviewed and approved.

The following add-ons and abatements to the tax books were approved as follows.

Personal Property – January 2019

Additions to the tax books: 2018, $8,251.21; 2017, $50.31

There were no abatements from the tax books in January 2019.

Real Property –

January 2019

There were no additions or abatements to the real tax books in January 2019.

Road and Bridge Supervisor Adam Meyer was in to report on road conditions.

There being no further business, the commission adjourned.

The Commission met Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Road & Bridge Supervisor Adam Meyer was in to report that 240th Street is closed due to weather conditions.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood reported that he contacted Jason Garst with the Atchison County Levee District due to the high water alerts. They are monitoring the conditions. The commission contacted Emergency Management Director Wiley to see if any action was needed and she reported they are also monitoring the conditions and sending out alerts as needed.

Clerk Taylor presented a request from the SB-40 Board to reappoint Jacque Gayle Gebhards, Devon Sons and Greg Young to serve new three-year terms. The commissioners voted to appoint the members as requested.

The commission signed a resolution recognizing Lee Eddie Stevens for his years of service on the Senior Citizens Board.

Marion Oswald and Jay Smith were in to discuss road conditions with the commission. They were interested in knowing if there was a plan for additional rock due to the extreme weather. The commissioners stated that this year’s rock budget allocated 90 ton per mile with additional funds in the Road & Bridge budget for repair rock.
