Rock Port High School took nine events to the District Solo Festival in St. Joseph, Missouri, on Saturday, March 30. Students prepare a solo and perform it in front of a judge who can give five ratings: Exemplary, Outstanding, Satisfactory, Developing, and Ineffective.

Students receiving Exemplary ratings and selected for State Music in Columbia on April 27 are Josie Watkins, vocal, and Alivia Baucom, tuba.

Students receiving Outstanding ratings were: Tori Jordan, flute; Scarlett Kish, flute; Ayden Wilroy, clarinet; Beth Davis, clarinet; RyAnne Herron, clarinet; RyAnne Herron, vocal; Rebekah Lucas, vocal.

The Rock Port High School Band travelled to Platte County for the State Large Ensemble Festival on Monday, April 1. State Music consists of preparing two pieces (one march and one overture), and sight-reading a piece of music. The students are then judged on their performance for all selections. The two prepared selections that the Rock Port Band played were: Shenandoah Valley and Foundry.

The judges can give five ratings: Exemplary, Outstanding, Satisfactory, Developing, and Ineffective.

Rock Port earned an Outstanding rating on their prepared pieces and an Exemplary rating on their sight-reading selection. Combining these scores resulted in Rock Port earning an Outstanding rating overall.

Rock Port’s Spring Concert (grades 5-12) will be Monday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m.

The Rock Port Fine Arts Banquet (for Band, Choir, Auxiliary, Mass Media, Art, Scholar Bowl) will be Thursday, May 9, at 7:00 p.m.
