Erich Ernsting , who became a resident of Rock Port some months ago and purchased property in Sickler’s Addition at that time, last week bought the J. E. McKinney business house on Main Street. Mr. Ernsting is in the electrical business and it is said will occupy the lower floor of the building with his business and recondition the upper floor of the building for residential purposes. The McKinneys lived upstairs over the store while Mr. McKinney utilized the first floor for his candy shop. The purchase was made from H. P. Savage, administrator of Mrs. McKinney’s estate.
The Rock Port Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary has chosen Miss Donna Leigh Shaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Shaver, as its representative at Girls State, which will be held at Fulton, Missouri, from June 28 to July 5. The Auxiliary will pay the expenses of Miss Shaver on the trip. The local representative is a member of the junior class of Rock Port High School and very popular among her classmates.

Harold Dean King purchased the Auto Parts store in Rock Port on April 28 from Sam Lund, St. Joseph. King was the former operator of King’s Skelly and DX stations for ten years.
If you didn’t look quickly Monday you missed seeing what has stood at the approach to the Brownville Bridge on the Missouri side for 30 years. With the “setting free” of the bridge Monday, the toll house was torn down by Thomas Construction. The little white house has had quite a history including floods, robberies, speeders running the gate and several characters over the years as tollkeepers.

The Rock Port boys’ golf team traveled to Tarkio for a match on Thursday, April 21. The Blue Jays took control and won the match 163 to the Indians’ 172. The JV golfers also came out on top with a score of 147 to Tarkio’s 160. The individual scores were Cory Scamman, 38; Michael Phelps, 45; Tad Gebhards, 42; Barry Fentiman, 38; and Garrett Schomburg, 49. Cory Scamman and Barry Fentiman tied for medalist. The individual scores for the JV were: Jase Runkles, 44; Christopher Roup, 51 and Wade Smith, 52.
