The Tarkio Golf Club has been open for the last 50 years. It is one of the finest, small town, nine-hole courses found anywhere. The course will kick off the tournament season with a 50th Anniversary Tournament on Saturday, May 4, 2019. The format will be a four person, member/guest, 8” cup scramble. A Cinco de Mayo Mexican buffet will be served following conclusion of play. The cost will be $240 per team. Half of the entry will apply to the club’s matching fund drive. There will also be various items at the club house for sale and gifts commemorating the anniversary.
The Tarkio Golf Club is also starting its 50th year with a matching fund drive and thanks Heartland Educational Institute for this opportunity to raise additional funds. The matching fund drive will run through May, 2019. It is a dollar for dollar fund drive and is available to both members and non-members. The club is offering discounts to members based on the size of the donation. The board hopes to be able to make improvements to the club house and stabilize the financial condition of Tarkio Golf Club. Check the website at tarkiogolfclub.com for membership options and tournament schedule. An additional option is a 10 play, nine-hole punch card for $100.
The golf club will again have its annual Youth Golf Clinic lead by Brad Volker, a Tarkio native and teaching professional at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Liberty, on Tuesday, June 4, through Thursday, June 6. Lessons will be in the afternoon from 4:00-5:30 p.m. followed by a meal. The clinic for area high school students will be on Tuesday, Wednesday is for age 7-10 and Thursday is for students 11-13. The cost of the clinic is $10. East Atchison golf team members are free. Last year’s clinic sponsors generated funds to cover expenses for 2018 and 2019.
