The Craig Cronies met April 18, 2019, at the Golden Corral in St. Joseph, Missouri, to enjoy lunch together, renew friendships, and share memories.

Everyone tried to identify students in a Star Country School photo from 1938-39 brought by Bill Heitman of Craig. Star School was located in northern Holt County just south of the Atchison County line. The teacher, Margaret Morris (later married Oscar Gregg) was identified and maybe students Juanita, Doris Lee, Alfred and Duane Edwards were named. Contact Bill Heitman or email lizb@embarqmail if you recognize someone in the photo. Bill also brought an assortment of early day Craig School newsletters, Craig Leader, Craig Tribune, Fairfax Forum, and other newspapers that everyone enjoyed reading. Sondra Catron Rouse, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, brought Fortescue School clippings and memorabilia to share. Everything was donated to the Holt County Historical Society and will be located in the Genealogy and Research Center in Mound City for anyone to enjoy.
