, the son of Donald Leroy and Marjorie Josephine (Chambers) Owen, was born April 19, 1961, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He attended school in Hamburg, Iowa, until the seventh grade, then attended Shenandoah High School, graduating in 1979. On November 9, 1980, Brian entered the Iowa National Guard, receiving his honorable discharge on January 28, 1983.

On February 25, 1989, Brian was united in marriage to Rose Mary Driskell in Tarkio, Missouri. They made their home in Tarkio until moving to Mound City, Missouri, where they made their home to the present time. They were the proud parents of Kevin, Ronnie, Randy, Rich and Shelly.

Brian was employed as an over-the-road truck driver most of his life. He regularly attended and played the gui- tar at the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio and the West- ly United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

During Brian’s childhood, he was a member of his family’s band and continued playing music in his younger years. Music was very important to Brian and he strived to keep the family legacy alive by teaching his grandkids and nephews to play and sing music which was his favorite hobby. Brian was a Hunter’s Education instructor for many years. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brian passed away Monday, May 20, 2019, at his home in Mound City, Missouri, at the age of 58.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by sons, Ronald Keith Tun- nell and Richard Hughes Tunnell. Survivors include wife, Rose Mary Owen, Mound City; children, Kevin (Megan) Owen, Harlan, Iowa, Randy (Nikki) Tunnell, Denton, Texas, and Shelly (Rick) Bradley, Mound City; grandchildren, Austin Owen, Cody Tunnell, Casey Tunnell, Jacobi Tunnell, Synthia Tunnell, Sara (Austin) Murphy, Levi Tunnell, and Madison Tunnell; great-grandchildren, Lindley Rose and Walker James; brothers, David Owen, Sidney, Iowa, and Jason (Nancy) Owen, Citra, Florida; sister, Marcia Gowdy, Glen- wood, Iowa; nephews, Stephen Owen, Justin Owen, Michael Owen, Jarrod Owen, and Gus Gowdy; nieces, Maranda Gowdy, and Jennifer McClendon; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service was held Friday, May 24, 2019, at Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio. Military rites were under the auspices of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Brian Owen Memorial Fund.
