The renovated kitchen will still provide the same great area for food preparation and serving, with new appliances and stainless steel counters for a streamlined, modern look.

The upstairs balcony features new railings, with the original wood floors restored.

The Liberty Theatre re-opened last week with the production of “Little Women,” which will show again June 21, 22 and 23. Anyone wanting to see the renovations now has a great opportunity by catching one of the shows. Showtimes are available on the Liberty Theatre’s Facebook page or by calling 660-744-5599.

The archways featured in the ceiling on the main floor echo the archways from the original architecture of the building when it was first built.

Atchison County Memorial Building board member Janet Griffin said that the board is so excited for community members to see the new building and they are happy to be planning an open house for guests this September.

The Atchison County Memorial Building is now taking reservations for rentals. Both the theater and the reception hall can be rented for weddings or other events by calling 660-744-5599.

Inside the Liberty Theatre, many updates to the facade and lighting have upgraded the entire room, including changes to the stage and backstage as well, allowing for easier back stage production and space for the cast and crew.
