The Summas – Jason, Marli (Summa) Hannah, and Wes – clearly know how to have a good time while competing in the Doug Summa 5K race on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Tarkio. Doug was their father and the entire Summa family comes to Tarkio every year to compete in this event that honors Doug and helps raise funds for the park.

Max Summa was the Overall Male Winner of the Doug Summa 5K on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Tarkio. He finished the race in 24:53.

The Tarkio Park Board sponsored the Doug Summa 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Tarkio. The Park Board junior members, Taylor Stanton, Tanner Rollins, and Rylie Simmons, also helped run the event.
The Doug Summa 5K and Kids Fun Run was held Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Tarkio. The rain quit just in time for the races and several people turned up at the event to compete. Sarah Murray of Tarkio was the overall winner and overall female winner, and she finished the race in 21 minutes and four seconds. Following close behind was the overall male winner Max Summa, who finished the race in 24 minutes and 53 seconds. Also close behind was Gus Hannah who finished the race in 24 minutes and 56 seconds.
Kids Fun Run participants included: 3 & Under – 1st, Novy Summa; 4-6 – 1st, Maggie Summa, and 2nd, Jaina Murray; and 7-9 – 1st, Owen Summa, and 2nd, Abbie Summa.
The 5K participants included: 14 and Under – 1st, Max Summa; 15-19 – 1st, Gus Hannah; 20-29 – 1st, Sarah Murray; 40-49 – 1st, Jason Summa, Marli Summa, and Wes Summa; 60-69 – 1st, Mike Cox, 2nd, Katherine Cox, and 3rd, Gary Herman.
The event was sponsored by the Tarkio Park Board. All proceeds go to the City of Tarkio for improvements and maintenance of the Doug Summa Memorial Park.
