Mary Lou Nauman, the daughter of Francis and Margaret (Gaffney) Wolf, was born February 3, 1927, in Linden, Missouri. She attended the Linden Country School and Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1945.
On July 25, 1944, Mary Lou was united in marriage to B. W. Nauman in Boise, Idaho, and they became the parents of four children: Barry, Billy, Rickey, and Bonita. Following B.W.’s military service, they returned to Northwest Missouri and farmed until retiring in 1990. B.W. passed away in 1998.
Mary Lou was a member of the First Christian Church, Rock Port. She sang in the church choir, participated in women’s groups, and worked as the church secretary. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, canvas oil painting and singing with the Sweet Adelines.
Mary Lou was extremely loving and an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother, who had a rock solid faith in Jesus that inspired her family. She regularly told the nursing home residents she loved them. Mary Lou passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at Tiffany Heights Care Center, Mound City, Missouri at the age of 92.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Barry and Rickey Nauman. Survivors include: son, Billy (Janet) Nauman, Rock Port; daughter, Bonita (Chris) Haer, Craig, Missouri; five grandchildren, Amy, Amanda, Hilary, Tammy, and Will; four step-grandchildren, Jared, Ashley, Greg, and Rachel; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at the First Christian Church, Rock Port, conducted by Pastor Will Haer. Interment was at Linden Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to the Mary Lou Nauman Memorial Fund.
