A deal was closed this week by the Bischof heirs through which George Deatz has purchased the old Bischof home in the southwest part of Rock Port. The remaining acreage was recently purchased by H.P. Savage, to be platted into building lots. The Bischof homestead has been in the family since 1866, a period of 78 years.
Rock Port’s two banks had deposits amounting to $3,176,228.42 on June 30, the date when the state banking department issued a call for statements. Deposits in the Bank of Atchison County amounted to $1,791,143.62, while those of the Citizens Bank totalled $1,385,084.80.

Daniel Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cox, Paul Bressler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bressler, and Peggy Gallup, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. D.C. Gallup, all of Rock Port, have been placed on the honor roll for the winter term, 1969, according to Dr. Eldon E. Breazier, chancellor and chief education officer for Tarkio College. The honor roll is composed of the names of all regular students who have a grade point average of 3.0 and higher for no fewer than three courses for a term.
Marion Edwards has sold his trash hauling business to Charles Lewis.
Mrs. Greg Chamberlain is the new bookkeeper for MFA Insurance company on a part-time basis.

Bird watching has become a favorite past time for residents of Pleasant View Nursing Home since an aviary was installed in the recreation room on June 28. The aviary was built along a wall and is 8′ high, 6.5′ wide and 3′ deep. It is home to 18 adult birds.
Breanna Parkhurst was crowned Little Miss Rock Port and Kyle Driskell Little Mister Rock Port at the 4th of July festivities.
Andy Bachle, son of Kyra and Harvey Mills, was named to the honor roll list as a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri – Rolla. Peter Bachle, also the son of Kyra and Harvey Mills, was also named to the list as a sophomore majoring in Geology and Geophysics.
