• Beuford Stoner is now sole owner of the Stoner Blacksmith Shop, known in years past as Stoner & Sons. Beuford purchased his father’s interest and took over the business Monday morning.
• Fairfax dirt streets are soon to be oiled if present plans of the board of aldermen are carried out. Because of restrictions on oil and shortage of labor the streets have not been oiled for two years and in many places resurfacing is needed. Work is expected to start about August 1.
July 17, 1969
• At the Missouri High School Rodeo in Tarkio last week, Mary Beth Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook, was named senior all-round cowgirl and also took first place in the calf roping event. Jeanette Swackhamer placed third in barrel racing and Swacky Swackhamer took a third place in bullriding and was singled out for the boys’ sportsmanship award. All three Fairfax youth qualified to participate in the National High School Rodeo in San Antonio, Texas.
• Floyd Dunkle has been credited with enrolling 52 members to the local American Legion for the 50th anniversary year 1969. At a recent meeting, Mr. Dunkle was presented with the Lightning Blue Bolt Award for this achievement.
July 14, 1994
• Three students competed in the state FHS contests called STAR Events. Carrie Bradfield, Kelly Bowman, and Sonya Nemyer participated in the All-Star Chapter Display Division and they qualified for national competition.
• Marilyn Alldredge, Community Hospital’s PR and events coordinator, spoke to the Fairfax Optimist Club about the changes being made at CHA. Mrs. Alldredge also presented club president Bill Slaughter with a plaque naming the club as a member of the Cornerstone Club.
