Plans are well under way for the 10th Annual Great Northwest Wine Fest in Mound City’s North Griffith Park, September 21, 2019. The event, held from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., will be hosted by Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation (NWMEF) as their main fundraiser and is showing phenomenal growth and new introductions in its tenth year of wine tasting, sampling and sales.

Most of the 12 wineries involved in this wine fest have been deemed as winners in Missouri’s Governor Award Winning Wines. Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation is pleased that there will be more offerings of new wines at this beautiful fall setting, in the north end of Mound City next to Mound City Development Corporation’s lavish vineyards. Each winery has their own unique taste and grape varieties, specialty named wines, and some are made with Mound City’s grapes.

The registration procedures, using two lines again this year, plus an advance ticket sales line can accommodate the crowd that has grown to nearly 2,300 attendees in the past. Tickets may be obtained in advance online by going to NWMEF.org/winefest. Each person 21 and older receives an etched wine glass and a different color wrist band. A flat fee of $25 is being charged for everyone 11 years and  older. The fee for children ages 3-10 is $5.

Once again, food from booths will feature a variety of different foods, including homemade breads, baked items and more, all afternoon and evening. A full bar to include domestic beers will be provided by The Klub of Mound City. Talented entertainers will grace the stage the entire afternoon and evening.

Artisan booths, returning and several new ones, will be available during the day. Such items as handcrafted jewelry, home decorative items, fall flowers, pumpkins, health products, purses and bags, photography, handmade and baked items, jams, jellies, candles, cosmetics, woodworking items, t-shirts, and more can be purchased. There are still spots available for booth set-ups.

Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation board members are also offering two large raffle giveaways: a 50/50 raffle, and a large basket of wine from the wineries. The winners will be announced that evening. The winners need not be present to win.

“Grape stompings” will occur in the afternoon.

Plenty of tables and chairs are provided or bring your own lawn chairs. Ample parking will be available.
