Nancy E. Cherry, 54, Fairfax, Missouri, was killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday, July 15, 2019. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Ms. Cherry was southbound on U.S. 59, two miles south of Fairfax, driving a 2010 Toyota van. The vehicle began skidding and went across the center line and off the east side of the roadway. The driver’s side of the van struck an embankment and it overturned one time, ejecting the driver. The van rotated counter clockwise and came to rest on its wheels facing north off the east side of U.S. 59.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:15 a.m. by the Atchison County Coroner, Shawn Minter.

The vehicle was totalled in the accident and was towed by Double M Towing of Rock Port.

Tpr. C.J. Blue was the investigating officer. He was assisted by Sgt. M.P. Quilty, Tpr. J.D. Farmer, Tpr. T.R. Hecker, Tpr. K.L. Shewey, Fairfax Fire Department,  Tarkio Fire Department, Atchison-Holt Ambulance District, Tarkio Police Department, and the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department.
