If you hear a rumor that the Corps of Engineers found a casket on the Nishnabotna River Levee, it’s true. After a full investigation by Atchison County Deputy Rick Sons, it was determined that the casket was indeed full of something scary, but nothing to be too worried about! It looks like some Halloween decor went on a haunting expedition of its own during the flood. (Judy Lang later confirmed that the Halloween props were from the Lang Farms’ shop on McKissick Island on the other side of the levee. They used to do a haunted house.)
