A one-vehicle accident occurred on Route AA on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, sending a Rock Port teen to the hospital with minor injuries.
A one-vehicle accident left a local teen with minor injuries at 11:20 a.m. on July 17, 2019, on Route AA, five miles northwest of Tarkio. The wreck occurred when Rebekah L. Lucas, 17, of Rock Port, Missouri, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am westbound on Route AA. Lucas attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway and the vehicle began to skid. It went off the south side of the roadway and struck a sign, overturned off the south side and came to rest on its wheels facing westbound.
Lucas, who was wearing a seatbelt, received minor injuries and was transported to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, by Holt County EMS. The 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was totaled and was secured roadside pending owner removal. The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K.A. McCallister, who was assisted by Sgt. M.P. Quilty, Trooper V.P. Wiley, Atchison County Sheriff’s Department, and Tarkio Police Department.
