A seven hour boat ride was worth the wait for Tyler Young, formerly of Rock Port, who recently broke a Texas fishing record with a 10.01 pound silk snapper he caught July 5, 2019, in the Gulf of Mexico. He beat the previous record of a 9.01 pound snapper caught with the same crew member, Ryan Doxey, in 2014. Tyler was fishing with his dad, Greg Young of Rock Port; his uncle, Clayton Young; and friends, Jeremy Peeler and John Mena.
