The Fairfax American Legion Auxiliary sponsored Jesse Graves as its Girls State Attendee. Jesse said, “I had a wonderful time at Missouri Girls State! Thank you to the American Legion Auxiliary for giving me this opportunity. I learned so many things and met so many great girls. Anyone who gets the chance needs to take the opportunity to experience something like this.
“My week at Girls State was very busy and very fun. We would get up early, go to bed late, then start all over the next day! It was a full schedule – we didn’t waste any time, which was eventful and crazy! My favorite part was the educational class that I attended every day from 8:00-10:00 a.m., which was about Law Enforcement. This class taught me so many different things. From self-defense, to safety, to just learning about what they do on the job. The other opportunity I had was holding a job within my city. I was a part of Lewis City, and I was the Postmaster. My job was to deliver mail if anyone received letters from home, as well as deliver daily flyers or newsletters to everyone on my floor. I thought this was interesting that I was nominated for this position given that my Grandma Kay does this job every day.
“This was a wonderful time and such a great experience to learn from. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity, I really appreciated it!”
