A local man was seriously injured in a Freightliner crash on Route N on July 24, 2019. The accident occurred north of 260th Road on Route N, six miles east of Fairfax, at 12:50 p.m.
A 2003 Freightliner, driven by Dalton J. Hudson, 31, of Rock Port, Missouri, was headed northbound on Route N and traveled off the east side of the roadway. Hudson overcorrected and the vehicle returned to the road. It then overturned onto its passenger side. Hudson was ejected and landed off the east side of the road. The Freightliner came to rest on the passenger side off the east side of the road facing west.
Hudson, who was not wearing a seat belt, received serious injuries and was transported to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, by an Atchison-Holt ambulance. He was later lifeflighted to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.
The 2003 Freightliner sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Double M Towing of Rock Port.
The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper M.A. Harris, who was assisted by Trooper K.L. Ebersold, the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department, Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service, and Missouri Department of Transportation.
