• Melvin, nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miles, is a lucky lad for he escaped with only scratches and bruises Monday when a tractor he was driving plunged off a bridge near the Miles home and dropped some 20 feet. The machine turned completely over and landed with its wheels in the air. Melvin was underneath but was thrown clear of any of the heavy parts and emerged from the badly damaged wreckage with just slight injuries. The machine slid due to heavy rains the night before and it crashed into the bannister and off into the ditch below.
