The Brownville Fine Arts Association will sponsor a dynamic day-long festival August 24, 2019, featuring a variety of performances including local youth groups and a headlining concert.
“Our goal is to bring a world-class performance and educational opportunity to the heart of the Midwest,” said Tammy McCann, Executive Director, Brownville Jazz Retreat. “Brownville has a long history of being the setting for artists and musicians to hone and develop their craft.”
Prior to the festival, an interactive learning encounter, Jazz Focus, a Masterclass will be offered to students, teachers and Jazz lovers (age 15+) for an additional fee of $20. Masterclass instructors, Jeff Hamilton (drums), Tamir Hendelman (piano), Jon Hamar (bass) and Dee Daniels (voice) will share their expertise while providing guidance and feedback to each student.
A limited number of scholarships are available for this event thanks to the Billy Strayhorn Foundation and Stelle Audio. Dale Dickkut, Brownville Fine Arts board liaison said, “The Brownville Jazz Retreat will not let money be an obstacle to access.” For more information please contact Tammy McCann, info@brownvillejazz.org.
