East Atchison Wolves high school football players go head-to-head with North West Nodaway in a jamboree Friday, August 23, in Tarkio.
The East Atchison Wolves High School Football Team got the 2019 season started with a jamboree held Friday, August 23, 2019, in Tarkio. The Wolves hosted North West Nodaway and Bishop LeBlond in the event. East Atchison came out the victor, scoring 52 points, with LeBlond scoring 42 and North West Nodaway scoring 22.
The jamboree was set up for each offense to get 12 plays while lining up at their own 30-yard-line in the first and third quarter. Then in the second and fourth quarter, each offense got six plays and started on the opposing team’s 15-yard line.
The Wolves scored touchdowns on their first two plays. In an interview with St. Joseph News Press, EA senior quarterback Jake McEnaney remarked, “We had to win. It’s opening jamboree and we can’t come out with a loss with our home crowd here.” With a good mixture of players, led by several seniors and a few fresh faces, the 27-man-team looked well organized and strong, which will hopefully carry them on to a win for their first game of the season, Friday, August 30, at 7:00 p.m. against Southwest Livingston in Ludlow, Missouri.
