Cecil Allen Young was born on January 18, 1935, near Forest City, Missouri. He was one of eight children of Emil and Naomi Blanche (Goin) Young.

Cecil graduated from Craig High School in 1952 and attended college in Maryville, Missouri.

He married Barbara Libel on September 1, 1978. They made their home near Fairfax, Missouri, where Cecil farmed and trucked grain.

Cecil passed away on August 31, 2019, in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant siblings; brother, William LeRoy “Billy” Young; and sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis Joan and Don Morris.

Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Barbara, of their home; his sons, Greg (Debbie) Young, Rock Port, Missouri, and Clayton (Karen) Young, League City, Texas; brothers, Kenneth (Elaine) Young, North Carolina, and Melvin Young, Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Lydia Elaine Wagner, Katy, Texas; sister-in-law, Jeanie Young, Mound City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jennifer Urbay, Brooke (Travis) Crowder, Colton Allen Young, Rachel (Dan) Albrechtsen, and Tyler Allen Young; three great-grandchildren, Drayton Urbay, D.J. Hayden, and Olivia Crowder; nieces and nephews; and close friends and neighbors, including Melvin and T.J. Miles.

Cecil was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Forest City and later Fairfax. He was also a member of the American Trap Shooters Association. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, trapping and fishing and the challenge of restoring equipment. He was never satisfied until the project had been truly “Cecilized.” He was also a pilot and drove race cars.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, at the Fairfax Baptist Church, Fairfax. Interment will be at Forest City Cemetery, Forest City, Missouri. The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, Missouri.
