Andrea “AC” Schooler started with the Bryan Police Department, Bryan, Texas, in August 2001. She served as a patrol officer for 6 1/2 years before being reassigned to the Brazos County Special Investigation Unit for 2 1/2 years. In 2010 she transferred to the Criminal Intelligence Unit as a gang specialist where she is finishing out her career with the Bryan Police Department. She was primarily responsible for documenting gang members in the city of Bryan. Her work behind the scenes significantly reduced violent gang activity in Bryan over the years. She is considered an expert in her field and is called often to testify in area criminal trials involving gang members.

During her career, AC has received recognition for her exceptional work and service to the community, including the following: Field Training Officer of the Year in 2006; Community Service Citation in 2006 for self-initiating nuisance abatement proceedings with the District Attorney’s office to have a problematic after-hours bar shut down; Police Commendation in 2006 for her involvement in an aggravated robbery at Taquerias Arandas; Master Peace Officer Certification in 2008; Police Commendation in 2010 for seeking gang injunctions against two gangs in the area; and Police Commendation in 2019 for her exceptional work in the Criminal Intelligence Unit over the past year.

AC Schooler has had an active role in helping people through crisis, whether it be a citizen of Bryan or another officer. She has been a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team for 16 years. She has also been a member of the Crisis Intervention Stress Management (CISM) Team for 15 years. She helped lead a team to Santa Fe, Texas, after a school shooting last year, and will continue her role as a CISM team member after she retires.

AC Schooler graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in May and will begin her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor in September.

Chris (AC) is the daughter of Karen Schooler, Bethel, Alaska, and Jim and Bobbie Schooler, Fairfax, Missouri. She is the granddaughter of Gaynel Loveland of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
