June Thomas, age 92 of Hamburg, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Clara June Thomas was born on June 1, 1927, in Nemaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Chester John and Ruth Irene (Peabody) Clifton. She graduated from Rock Port High School in Rock Port, Missouri, with the class of 1945. She then attended Cosmetology School in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was married to Homer Dorwin Thomas on July 24, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kansas, and to this union two sons were born: Jerry and Jeff. They later divorced.
June worked at Interstate Nurseries for some 30 years before retiring. She filled orders at the nursery. June was a member of the Linden Christian Church near Rock Port.
She is survived by son, Jeff Thomas and wife Jeannie of Hamburg; daughter-in-law, Betsy Thomas of Rock Port; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Kerner of Tecumseh, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Mercedes Clifton of Tecumseh; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
June was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Thomas, in February of 2018; her parents; and grandson, James Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, Iowa. Burial will follow at Linden Cemetery at rural Rock Port. The family will greet friends on Thursday, prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to Hamburg Rescue.
