There has come to The Mail this week from the public relations office of the Army air field at Alexandria, Louisiana, a short story which includes the name of a Tarkio youth, Flight Officer Harry R. Davis, bombardier of a Flying Fortress crew. The young man is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Davis and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Nixon of Rock Port.

Grades seven through 11 have chosen their homecoming attendants. The 1969 attendants are Rick Miller and Cathy Lewis, seventh grade; Michelle Junko and Gary Bogenreif, eighth grade; Bob Stubblefield and Joyce Amthor, freshmen; Tom Junko and Paula Bramble, sophomores; Warren Grebe and Judy Miller, juniors.

This week’s players of the week are Ron Oswald, Steve Houts, Tom Graves and Steve Davis.

A $495,000 school bond is to be voted Thursday, October 14. This is the eighth bond to be submitted in the district since August 2, 1966.

Rock Port High School Homecoming royalty included: Jamie Schmielau, Jason Lewis, Kelly Armstrong, Luke Fohl, Jamie Burke, Mark Fohl, Nikki Andrews, Halley Evans, Patti Gubser, Ryan Griffin, Zack Smith, Barry Fentiman, Cashie Nelson, Jase Runkles, Jennifer Umbarger, and Troy Cook. Crownbearers were Jared McMahon and Stephanie Morrison. Patti Gubser, daughter of Marlin and Sherry Gubser, was crowned queen. Ryan Griffin, son of Stan and Janet Griffin, was crowned king.

Movies showing at area theaters included the following: Paramount Theater in Rock Port was showing “In The Army Now;” showing at the Pioneer 3 in Nebraska City was “Little Giants,” “Exit to Eden,” and “The Specialist;” and the Colonial Theater in Hamburg was showing “The Mask.”
