Rock Port Telephone (RPT) announced September 18, 2019, that it will begin building fiber to the home in Rock Port and Watson, Missouri. The project is slated to begin in the fall of 2019. During this project, RPT will build out its fiber optic network to an estimated 1,000 homes and businesses over the next 18 to 24 months, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2021.

“Fiber to the home is the most advanced communication system available in the world today and will be the technology relied upon worldwide to deliver communications in the future,” said RPT General Manager Michael Goins. “This means Rock Port and Watson residents will have unprecedented high-speed internet access through RPT.”

RPT customers currently have access to speeds up to 25 Mbps. After project completion, Rock Port and Watson residents can look forward to speeds up to one gigabit, which is 40 times faster than the fastest speed accessible today. “Our extensive fiber network deployment and continued investment in improving and expanding our network enables us to offer the fastest, most reliable internet connections at the best value,” Goins said. RPT has continued to make investments on network upgrades and enhancements over the past five years in order to bring the latest technology and fastest speeds to its customers.

RPT has set up a web page dedicated to tracking this fiber project. Members are able to stay informed by visiting www.rpt.coop/FTTH and signing up to receive updates as they become available.
