The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen met October 16, 2019. The regular meeting was called to order by Ryan Kingery, Mayor, at 6:40 p.m. Also in attendance were: Kristi Duering, Tabitha Wintz, Beth Graves, and Michael Oswald, Aldermen; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Kristy McDonald, City Clerk; Michael Goins, Rock Port Telephone Co.; and Angie Vernon, Rock Port Telephone Co.

The aldermen voted to approve the tentative agenda.

Michael Goins and Angie Vernon, representing Rock Port Telephone Co./Midwest Data Center, talked about how they will be replacing the current coax cable with fiber optic in the City of Fairfax. This will be for TV, phone, and internet and they plan on starting that project this winter.

The minutes of the regular meeting September 18, 2019, were approved, as well as accounts payable.

Danny Kemerling presented the updated fire protection agreement. After a short discussion and review the aldermen voted to sign the agreement.

Staff Reports

Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer’s report showing that all accounts are in balance.

Kristy McDonald reported that there still has not been any word on if the city is going to receive the CDBG that was applied for. The city has been approved by the USDA to use money from their replacement and extension account to update the meter reading software, laptop and office computer towers.

John Brown has ordered the new meter reading laptop and hopes to get that up and running soon.

The aldermen voted to go into closed session at 7:50 p.m. for discussion of personnel and personally identifiable information as provided by RSMo 610.021(1,3,13). The council came back to open session at 8:06 p.m.

The aldermen voted to accept Kristy McDonald’s resignation as City Clerk.

The next meeting is November 20 at 6:30 p.m.
