Midwest Data Center (MDC) has announced that it has concluded its field trial and will begin building fiber to the home in Fairfax, Mound City, and Tarkio, Missouri. The project is slated to begin in fall 2019. This will be the final phase of a five year project. During this project, MDC will build out its fiber optic network over the next 18 to 24 months, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2021.

“Fiber to the home is the most advanced communication system available in the world today and will be the technology relied upon worldwide to deliver communications in the future,” said Michael Goins, MDC General Manager. “This means Fairfax, Mound City, and Tarkio residents in these areas will have unprecedented high-speed internet access.”

MDC customers currently have access to speeds up to 25 Mbps. After project completion, residents can look forward to speeds up to 1 gigabit, which is 40 times faster than the fastest speed available today.

“Our extensive fiber network deployment and continued investment in improving and expanding our network enables us to offer the fastest, most reliable internet connections at the best value,” Goins said. MDC has continued to make investments on network upgrades and fiber deployment over the past five years in order to bring the latest technology and fastest speeds to its customers.

MDC has set up a web page dedicated to tracking this fiber project. Customers are able to stay informed by visiting https://residential.mwdata.net/ and signing up to receive updates as they become available.
