The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting November 20, 2019. The meeting was called to order by Ryan Kingery, Mayor, at 6:35 p.m. Also present were: Kristi Duering, Tabitha Wintz, Beth Graves, and Michael Oswald, Aldermen; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Kristy McDonald, City Clerk; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; and Danny Kemerling, Treasurer.

The tentative agenda was approved.

The aldermen voted to approve the regular minutes of October 16, 2019, and accounts payable.

Bill #2019-07 titled: “A resolution authorizing individual of certain position signers for banking purposes on accounts now registered or hereafter registered in the name of The City of Fairfax” was presented to board and approved. Bill 2019-07 was assigned Resolution #2019-1554.

Bill #2019-08 titled: “A resolution authorizing individual of certain position signers for banking purposes on accounts now registered or hereafter registered in the name of The City Of Fairfax” was presented to board and approved. Bill 2019-08 was assigned Resolution #2019-1555

There was a discussion on putting a .01 sales tax increase on April’s election ballot. This increase would be for maintaining streets.  A public meeting will be held at the beginning of the next council meeting from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m.

The 2020 proposed budget was presented to the council for their review. Adoption will be considered at the December meeting.

A short discussion was held about the city’s sidewalks. It is believed there is a grant available next year that we will be able to apply for. The clerk will look into this and get back to council.

Staff Reports–

Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer’s report showing that all accounts are in balance.

Kristy McDonald informed the council that there still has not been any word on if the city is going to receive the CDBG that was applied for.

Lori Helfers presented a new USDA grant through the Community Facilities Program for street repair that she will look further into. She will be attending The Missouri Sunshine Law meeting December 4.

John Brown gave a report on current sewer issues that they are working on.

There will be a water inspection December 18, 2019.

The next meeting will be December 18 at 6:30 p.m.
