Atchison County has done it again! Surpassed its quota of bond sales in the Sixth War Loan campaign. Last week it was mentioned that the subscription of “E” bonds had surpassed the county’s quota of $148,000. Atchison County’s quota of $389,000 was exceeded by more than $90,000, total sales being $148,600. After The Mail was printed, Dr. Ray Matkin, county chairman, was advised from Maryville headquarters for the district that Atchison County was the first county in this district to achieve its quota of $389,000 in overall bond sales in the Sixth War Loan drive.

Dear Santa Claus, I love you very much and I am going to leave cookies and milk for you and when you are through there will be a napkin beside the plate so you can wipe your mouth. I want a Break the Ice game, a Red Balloon game, Show ’N Play Tinker Toys, a new billfold like my father’s that has a place for dollars, and a race car set, and a baseball bat and glove. I also want some new hush puppies. I have been a good boy part of the time. Love, Shawn Minter.
