• Miss Evelyn Cooper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Cooper, is a new employee in the bookkeeping department of the Bank of Atchison County. She takes the place of Miss Miriam Ernsting.
• Frank Heyen is getting his equipment in order for the opening of a new barbershop in the building just north of the Klump store, which has been used for some time by H.Y. Rupe as his trucking business office.
January 1, 1970
• Gregory Chamberlain, Rock Port, will become juvenile office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Northwest Missouri on January 1. Mr Chamberlain has been deputy juvenile office for Atchison County for a year.
Copper thieves are at it again. Over the weekend the City of Rock Port had a loss of nearly $300 worth of copper wire stolen from their storage lot. Sometime after Saturday noon one roll of new wire valued at $200 and approximately 100 pounds of waste copper wire that had the insulation burned off was taken. The theft is being investigated by the City Marshall, Sheriff’s Department and the State Highway Patrol.

Martin Wallace Carpenter has received the Greater University Fund Scholarship from the University of Kansas for the fall 1994 semester. He is a freshman interested in Liberal Arts and Science. Martin is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Wallace Carpenter.
