Janet Irene (Shields) Jensen, daughter of Rachel and Owen Raymond Shields, was born on May 3, 1947, in San Francisco, California. She entered into rest on December 26, 2019, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, 23 days.

The family moved to Albany, Missouri, in 1948, where Janet graduated high school in 1965. On July 15, 1966, Janet was united in marriage to Thomas Jensen in Guthrie, Missouri. They moved to Langdon, Missouri, in 1977, where they raised three children, laid down their roots and started a business, The Fishmonger. They retired from the fishing business in 2004. After Thomas passed away in 2005, she enjoyed traveling with her family and spending winters in Arizona with her sister and summers in Iowa with her children and grandchildren.

Preceding Janet in death were her husband, Thomas Jensen; her parents; and three brothers, Lester Dean, Ray and Bill Shields. Left to cherish her memory are her son, James and wife LeAnn Jensen of Omaha, Nebraska; two daughters, Jeri Jensen of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Jennifer Jensen and her significant other, Timothy Binau of Rock Port; one brother, Buddy Shields and wife Nancy of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Nancy Cenac and husband Tom of Oro Valley, Arizona, and Dodie Ceradsky and husband Charles of Mount Moriah, Missouri; sister-in-law, Mary Grace Shields of Gilman City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Thomas, Mandy, Torri, Leann, Jamesey, and Octavian; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

A celebration of life service for Janet was held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service in Shenandoah with Pastor Marcia Barnett officiating. Memorials in Janet’s name are being directed to the family. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hunter Cemetery near Rock Port.
