East Atchison fans and athletes will celebrate their Winter Homecoming Friday, February 14, 2020. Both Fairfax and Tarkio schools will participate in week-long activities leading up to the East Atchison basketball games that Friday night in Fairfax versus North Nodaway. The kings and queens will be crowned following the games.
Tarkio High School Winter Homecoming royalty includes: Queen Taylor Stanton; Briacin Bywater, Gus Hurst, and Ashton Yeary, king candidates; and attendants – Harley Caudill and Hunter Bennett (juniors), Haley Garrison and Kaylin Merriweather (sophomores), and Faith Anderson and Tanner Rollins (freshmen).
Tarkio special activities include:
• Junior varsity and varsity basketball jerseys will be for sale ($20 per jersey on a first come, first served basis). This starts on Monday, February 10. Jerseys may be purchased from the Tarkio High School office and picked up there on Thursday, February 13. Proceeds will go to the after prom bash.
• Homecoming Dress-up Days – Monday, Ballers vs. Scholars (dress in your favorite jersey or like a nerd); Tuesday, Famous Couples (any couple will do); Wednesday, Pajama Day; Thursday, Wolves’ Spirit Day; and Friday, No School.
• Homecoming Class Contests – Monday, Ships and Sailors; Tuesday, Belching Contest; Wednesday, No Contest (County Band Day); Thursday, Lip Sync Battle and Cheerleaders perform in Fairfax for the pep rally; and Friday, no school.
• A pep rally will be held on Thursday in Fairfax and classes will perform songs in a lip sync battle. Tarkio classes have been assigned songs with a theme of “For the love of the game” with songs about love or heart: seniors – “You belong With Me” by Taylor Swift; juniors – “Love Story” by Taylor Swift; sophomores – “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart” by Elton John; freshmen – “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston; eighth graders – “Crazy in Love” by Beyonce; and seventh graders – “Bad Case of Loving You” by Robert Palmer.
• The class with the most points from the contests will earn a pizza party. The winner will be announced at halftime of the boys’ basketball game.
• Students are invited to a 5th quarter celebration after the coronation.
Fairfax High School Winter Homecoming royalty includes: McKenzie Frohn, Jesse Graves, and Kilea Cooper, queen candidates; King Wyatt Burke; and Ian Hedlund and Josh Smith, attendants.
The Fairfax students will be participating in the following dress-up days: Monday – Jersey Day; Tuesday – Favorite Teacher Day; Wednesday – TV Show Couple; Thursday – 100 Year Old You Day; and Friday – Spirit Day. Fairfax classes will also perform love songs for the Lip Sync Battle.
