The Northwest Missouri Eagles Archery Team competed in their first National Archery in the Schools (NASP) tournament of the season. The tournament was hosted by South Nodaway school January 25, 2020. A total of 83 archers from the surrounding area participated.

Eagles team highlights from the tournament are as follows:

High School Girls – Juliana Binder of Bigelow placed 2nd with 280 points (Tier 2 state qualifying score); and High School Boys – Ethan Lucas of Rock Port was 1st with 277 points (Tier 3 state qualifying score) and Hunter Gordon of Mound City placed 3rd with a score of 274.

Middle School Boys – Brett Wright of Mound City received 1st place honors scoring 283 points (Tier 1 state qualifying score) and Aaron Riley of Oregon placed 3rd shooting a 269.

Elementary Girls – Elena Gillenwater of Mound City received 2nd place with 228 points. Elementary Boys – Rennick Rader of Mound City placed 3rd and shot 251 points.

Overall, the Eagles team shot a Tier 3 state qualifying score of 3,156 points and 19 of their 24 archers finished top 10 in their division.

Additionally, Rennick Rader of Mound City and Aiden James of Maryville competed and received awards at a second tournament hosted by Northland Christian School in Kansas City. Rader placed 2nd in Elementary Boys division with 260 points (Tier 3 state qualifying score) and James 5th in Middle School Boys division with 272 points (Tier 3 state qualifying score). A total of 315 archers competed.
