• March 1 will see the retirement of a man who has been in the mercantile business in Fairfax longer than any other person. The McMahon Implement company, a 49-year-old concern in Fairfax, was sold Monday to Rex Shandy, Rock Port implement dealer. E.R. McMahon will retire after 52 years in the business.
• Mr. and Mrs. W.T.J. Youel will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at their home in Fairfax on Sunday, February 25. Mr. and Mrs. Youel were married by Reverend Marshall of Tarkio College at the home of her parents, near Fairfax, in 1885. Mrs. Youel is the former Miss Damaris Hedrick. She is 78 and Mr. Youel is 81. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Youel.
• Beuford Stoner and A.A. Prime have formed a partnership in the blacksmithing business and Monday Mr. Prime will start work at the Stoner shop. The shop will continue under the Stoner name.
February 26, 1970
• Hayden Pyeatt invites all men interested in a night course in small engine, electric welding, acetylene welding, and other types of shop work to meet at the ag building Thursday evening, February 26. A class will be organized to run several weeks.
• Cub Scouts held its annual Blue and Gold banquet at the Methodist Church in Fairfax. The Bobcat pin was awarded to five new cubs, including Doug Miller, Robert Grimm, Donnie Davis, Mark Smith, and Chris Faulkner. Paul Whittington, Ronnie Hendricks, Ted Graves, Steve Breeden, and J. Smith earned the right to wear the Wolf Badge. Four cubs have reached the Scouting age and will be leaving the pack. They are Roger Pennel, Bobby Schooler, Donnie Brandt, and Robbie Bowness.

• Over the Backfence by Nancy Gaines: “The car wash has really been busy this weekend. With temperatures of 50, I even entered the line for a wash job. I’ll never convince Bruce that I had put money in. I put in my quarters and the water was barely a trickle. Gale Ball went and got Bruce and he came, dropped in more money and the thing took off like a fire hose with me on the end of it. He patted my shoulder and said, “you know it takes money.”
• The Fairfax FFA Chapter observed FFA Week with a different activity held each day. Chapter officers are: President Ryan Oswald, Vice-President Matt Smith, Secretary Aaron Simmons, Reporter Derek Davis, Treasurer Daniel Smith, Sentinel Shaun O’Riley, and Advisor Roger Martin.
