The Brownville Fine Arts Association (BFAA) has introduced the launch of the Brownville Jazz Retreat (BJR), to be held June 24-27, 2020, in Brownville, Nebraska. BJR is an organization dedicated to jazz education through rural and urban community engagement.

To support this endeavor, two fundraising concerts, “Duke & Stray Together Again,” have been planned for February 28 and 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brownville Concert Hall.

Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn had a musical partnership that filled the jazz world with timeless classics. Tammy McCann, Brownville Jazz Retreat Executive Director and jazz vocalist, will celebrate that relationship  at the concerts. “Her compelling delivery takes her audience on a journey to a romantic past and makes it live again.” She was voted Top Female Jazz Vocalist for four years by the Chicago Tribune.

Sponsored by the Brownville Fine Arts Association and The Brownville Concert Series, this fundraiser concert will make it possible to broaden the footprint of jazz in the region and provide enhanced resources to area jazz students. Brownville has a long history of being the setting for artists and musicians to hone and develop their craft.
