The Atchison County Commission met on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Atchison County Courthouse in Rock Port, Missouri. Present were Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Clerk of the Commission Susette Taylor.

The commissioners participated in the Emergency Operations Center Drill Rehearsal held in Tarkio. There being no further business to come before the commission, the commission adjourned.

February 27, 2020

The Atchison County Commission met on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at the Atchison County Courthouse in Rock Port. Present were Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood called the meeting to order. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bills were reviewed and approved.

At 9:00 a.m., bids were opened and read for two 2013 Peterbilt Single Axle Trucks with new 11′ steel bodies. There was only one bid received from Transport Truck Sales, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri, at a cost of $56,500.00 each/grand total of $113,000. Bid was reviewed by Road & Bridge Supervisor Adam Meyer and met all specifications. North District Commissioner Jim Quimby made a motion to accept the bid as presented. The motion was seconded by South District Commissioner Richard Burke. Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood called for further discussion, there being none, a roll call vote to approve the purchase was as follows: Quimby – yes; Burke – yes; and Livengood – yes.

At 9:15 a.m., bids were opened and read for a new belly dump trailer. There were two bids received. The first bid was from R Way Trailers, Holdingford, MN, for $50,000, and the second bid was from Jim Hawk Truck Trailers, Kansas City, for $42,960. Both bids were reviewed for specification, but Road and Bridge Supervisor Adam Meyer recommended the purchase of two trailers from Jim Hawk Truck and Trailers for a total amount of $85,920. South District Commissioner Richard Burke made the motion to approve the purchase of two trailers as bid by Jim Hawk Truck Trailers. The motion was seconded by North District Commissioner Jim Quimby. Presiding Commissioner Livengood called for further discussion, there being none, a roll call vote to accept the bid and approve the purchase was as follows: Quimby – yes; Burke – yes; and Livengood – yes.

Tim Bell with Foley Equipment was on the agenda at 10:00 a.m. to introduce himself to the commissioners and Supervisor Meyer. He was interested in setting up a demo day for one of their road graders.

January 2020 additions and abatements to the tax books were approved as follow:

2018 – $160.93

Real Property Additions:

2019 – $28.33

Real Property Abatements:

2019 – $1,199.82
