Sarah Jane Salmond left this earth to join God’s Kingdom on Friday, April 17, 2020, at 3:29 p.m.
Sarah was born November 16, 1954, in Fairfax, Missouri, to Walter, Jr. and Vermell (Ward) Bolin. She graduated from Tarkio High School in 1973. She furthered her education at Northwest Missouri State University where she graduated in 1976 with a degree in nursing.
In the summer of 1976, she married the love of her life, Larry Andrew Salmond, of Tarkio, Missouri. From Tarkio they moved to Cozad, Nebraska, to start their married life. They also resided in Oregon, Missouri, before moving to their farm north of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, where they have spent the last 30 years. From this union came three wonderful children, Andrea Jane Duey, Carie Sue Schnake and Benjamen Andrew Salmond.
Sarah was a nurse for over 40 years. She started her career at Cozad Community Hospital as an Emergency Room nurse. From there she worked at Fairfax Community Hospital, Lawrence County Manor, Admissions Coordinator for the Missouri Rehab Center, Oxford Home Health, Missouri Veterans Home, and most recently served as the school nurse for the Mt. Vernon Intermediate and High Schools.
Sarah loved all of her patients, was an excellent role model for her fellow employees, and had a tremendous love for all of the veterans she took care of.
Sarah loved the outdoors, camping, traveling, her horses and family baseball games with all of the kids. Her greatest love was her family. She loved her husband, her kids and her grandbabies more than anything. Sarah was one of God’s most decent, caring, and humane creations who will be tremendously missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, brother, nieces, nephews and by all of those she touched with her presence.
Sarah leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Larry; daughters, Annie and husband, Nathan, and their children, Carsen, Macie, Kylee, Maya and Hayden of Mt. Verno, Carie and husband, Nathan, and their boys, Craig and Caleb, of Stotts City; son, Andrew and his girls, Ryann and Ellee, of Fairfax, Missouri; and her brother, Charlie Bolin, of Tarkio, Missouri; along with several nieces, nephews, and a large group of friends.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Walter, Jr. and Vermell Bolin; her in-laws, Jim and Shirley Salmond; and both sets of grandparents, Walter, Sr. and Lydia Bolin, and Homer and Carie Ward.
Due to current restrictions placed on gatherings, the family will hold a celebration of Sarah’s life at a later date. Services are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
