A two-vehicle accident occurred three miles east of Tarkio, Missouri, on Highway 136 at 12:50 p.m. May 3, 2020. The crash happened when a 2019 Chevy Malibu, driven by Morgan H. Parshall, 17, of Tarkio was driving behind a 1993 Chevrolet S10, driven by Tammy S. Sly, 52, of Fairfax, Missouri, both heading eastbound on Hwy. 136. The Sly vehicle was making a left turn when the Parshall vehicle struck the rear of the S10. The Malibu came to rest on the highway facing southeast and the S10 came to rest facing west in the westbound lane of the highway.

All occupants were wearing their seat belts. Tammy Sly and her passenger and husband, James Randall Sly, 57, received minor injuries, but sought their own medical treatment. The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu received extensive damage and was towed by Double M Towing of Rock Port. The 1993 Chevrolet S10 sustained moderate damage and was to be removed later.

The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K.A. McCallister, who was assisted by Trooper V.P. Wiley and the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department.
