Katelyn (Moore) Hendrix of Auburn, Nebraska, was the victim of a hit and run that occurred just outside of Auburn Sunday, May 10, 2020. Deputies found Hendrix lying near 26th Street shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. The public was asked to help locate a gray 2010 to 2013 Ford Fusion or similar car with front end damage.
On Wednesday, May 13, Nemaha County deputies served a search warrant in Auburn that resulted in the recovery of the vehicle that struck Hendrix. The warrant was a result of several tips from the public and deputies eliminating vehicles matching the description of the vehicle being sought. The suspected driver of the vehicle was located Wednesday evening. Dustin Pierce, age 33, of Auburn was arrested Wednesday evening for leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury.
Kat is currently at Bryan West in Lincoln, Nebraska, suffering from a traumatic brain injury. She has family that lives in Atchison County and fundraisers have been created to help out Kat’s family financially (Kat and her husband have two young children).
