Organizers are going forward with The Liberty Theatre’s Youth Production Workshop. Please be assured that everything will be done to keep the kids safe and healthy. Precautions, such as checking temperatures each morning, wiping down surfaces frequently, having hand sanitizer available in all parts of the Memorial Building, and keeping groups of kids together at one time as small as possible, will be taken. If you have any questions, please contact Mikaela Sons at acmo.libertytheatre@gmail.com.

This is an opportunity for area young people to learn, rehearse, produce and perform in a musical theatre production just for them! All area students entering second grade through entering 9th grade in the fall of 2020 are eligible to participate. They will be performing Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.

Auditions for speaking and solo parts (lead/supporting roles) will take place June 22 and 23, 5:00 – 7:00  p.m. at the Liberty Theatre. You must audition in person if you are interested in a lead or supporting role. Please have a short song prepared to sing. You can sing a capella or bring a CD/mp3 to sing with. You do not need to audition if you are not interested in a speaking or solo singing role. The workshop for leads/supporting roles will run July 13-17. All workshop participants will meet July 20-24. They will meet Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for both weeks. Details will be made available about performances later, but will occur sometime during the weekend of July 24, 25, and 26 at The Liberty Theatre, 417 S. Main, Rock Port. Every student who signs up will have the opportunity to perform on stage! All participants must be pre-registered (no walk-ins). Registration closes July 1.

There is a camp fee of $40. This includes a t-shirt, snack, and script. For each additional participant in the same household, add $10. (i.e. one child $40, two children $50, three children $60.) Payment will not be taken until the first day of camp. Parent support will be required for each participant’s costumes. The mission of the Liberty Theatre is to cultivate creativity and inspire young actors and performers as well as provide an outlet for members of our community to share their talents and passions. There is no better education for young performers than providing opportunities for them to work with and learn from experienced performers. They will at all times strive to help all actors see their own potential and help them grow in their expectations of themselves. It is the continued belief that if the actors are inspired to do and become their best, Liberty Theatre will always create a positive theatre experience for our audience and the community.
