Richard O. Carroll, the son of Donald Eugene, Sr. and Helen Lucille (Sliger) Carroll, was born on October 31, 1950, in Maryville, Missouri. Richard graduated from Redondo Beach High School, Redondo Beach, California, in 1968.
On November 4, 1968, Richard entered the United States Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam War as a Quartermaster on the USS New Orleans and USS Valley Forge. Richard received his honorable discharge on November 3, 1974.
Richard was employed in Hotel and Motel Management as a financial auditor in Marina del Rey, California, and Prescott, Arizona. In 1989, Richard was employed by the Horse Shoe Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, supervising live table games as a Pit Boss. Following his mother’s death in 2007, Richard returned to Rock Port, Missouri, to care for his father where he lived to the present time. Richard enjoyed watching old movies and competing at anything.
Richard passed away, Thursday, June 11, 2020, at the Omaha VA Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 69.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Don, Jr. Survivors include a host of friends.
Graveside service and inurnment were held Friday, June 19, 2020, at Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port, conducted by Pastor Terry Robison. Military rites were under the auspices of Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to Greenhill Cemetery.
