The West Atchison Fire District received a call at 2:48 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, for a car fire at Exit 106 on I-29 in the southbound lane. The caller stated that the back end of the vehicle was full of fireworks and there was also a propane tank located there. Three fire trucks responded. The Cadillac Escalade was a total loss, but no injuries were reported. Responding fireman were Scott Jones, Dan Athen, W.C. Farmer, Eric Abbott, Greg Groff, and Drake Daugherty.
