The Atchison County Library ended the first month of its new internet-based Summer Reading Challenge with a prize drawing for participants who met the goals of their first challenge. Over 90 county-wide readers registered in June to tackle their age-specific reading program. At the end of the first month, the library held a drawing that included every reader who had met their goal.

A prize was randomly selected out of this group for each age program and each library branch. Prizes included play tents, mechanical models, puzzles and other items to help winners pass time this summer.

Drawing winners included: Preschool – Liam Maddox, Scout Smith, and Beau Waigand; 5-7 Years – Raiden Baruth, Wendy Hurst, and Kipton Waigand; 8-10 Years – Clara Hays, Mack Smith, and Graceyn Reeves; and 11-12 Years – Zoe Madron and Breanna Shaw.
